ABOUT THE COMMITTEE
Social Committee
MISSION:
The Social Committee’s mission is to build upon the Hidden Lakes sense of community by planning, organizing and hosting events and activities throughout the year. Events planned may vary from year to year based upon the interest and feedback from social committee members and overall resident surveys.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteers on the committee are encouraged to participate in the planning of regularly scheduled events, recruitment of additional volunteers, as well as provide feedback for future events.
Create and maintain an annual, itemized budget which includes an allocation of funds and directives for individual events. It must be submitted to and approved by the Finance Committee each year.
Ensure there is additional funding for social events and activities by working with the Promotions Manager to coordinate sponsorships or other revenue opportunities.
Report planned events to the Communications Committee for promotion to the community via E-News or website.
Maintain the committee’s inventory of supplies, equipment and props for recurring activities and events.
Monitor and support sub-groups such as the various sport clubs (soccer, swimming, biking, softball, etc.).
Monitor and support sub-groups such as the various special interest groups (card groups, playgroups, bunco, dining out groups, book clubs, etc.).
Ensure the equipment (goals, primarily) and the fields themselves are maintained in optimal condition though responsible regulation of the soccer fields rental fees.
Encourage participation in our very own Hidden Lakes summer Lightning Swim Team, and pre-season classes and tryouts. Ensure we employ enthusiastic, competent coaches paid through reasonable registration fees, as well as providing for purchase and maintenance of uniforms and any equipment (lane lines, for example). Negotiate swim practice times with the Association Managers.
The costs of most social and recreational activities will be paid for by the participants. Costs of other events may be offset by working with the Hidden Lakes Promotions Manager to garner sponsorships as needed to financially support the events and activities.
